Job Description
AECOM is hiring a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Wastewater Commissioning Manager for our East County Advanced Water Purification Project in San Diego, CA. This is the largest project of its kind and a unique opportunity to lead innovation within the wastewater industry.
In this role you will be responsible for the effective management of our commissioning program interacting closely with the Construction delivery team. You will provide leadership and direction to a staff of commissioning team technicians; and be responsible for providing the necessary guidance required for critical program coordination with Construction staff, equipment vendors, Project Engineers, Quality Control Inspection and the Owners operations & maintenance staff.
The project is currently under construction and the candidate will be required to participate 100% on site in San Diego County, California. Relocation assistance is available.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Provide leadership of the Commissioning Team in the development and implementation of the handover and commissioning strategy. Lead a team of C&SU engineers and technicians
Review of contract documents, participate in the development of functional and acceptance test plans and execute tests for a wide variety of mechanical, electrical and instrument controls systems
Conduct Contractor and Owner C&SU coordination meetings in advance and during commissioning and integration. Prepared agenda documents and post minutes
Develop and or review startup plans, schedules and startup packages and track progress through completion
Lead the development of a detailed startup schedule based on the established system commissioning dates per the project milestones. Proactively plan and coordinate sequence of system startup priorities to complete the C&SU
Coordinate with vendors and integrators processor programming, installation, testing and Pre-Commissioning functional testing for the process mech/elect and I&C systems
Review and participate in the development of pre-functional checklists
Coordinate functional test procedures and execute operational testing
Witness selected re-testing of systems that do not pass initial functional testing
Review content of equipment O & M Manuals for coordination and inclusion of testing activities
Coordinate, obtain and review vendor and contractor training documents
Coordinate and oversee training of the Owner’s operating personnel related to commissioned systems
Monitor and provide constructive feedback on daily activities affecting and involving C&SU
Maintain positive open communications and relationships with the project partners on startup issues
Conduct system walk downs and generate punch lists
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant construction experience in water/wastewater; Oil & Gas; Power Generation; or Industrial industries; or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid Driver’s license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
This position requires candidate to be on site in San Diego County (Santee), CA. No remote or hybrid considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
20 years of construction background experience in water / wastewater, Oil & Gas, Power Generation or Industrial industries
Proven demonstration of commissioning and start-up experience
Master’s degree or directly related proven experience
Experience managing and leading a team; commissioning and performance testing experience
Demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and to embrace change
Position requires significant knowledge and field experience working with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation control systems and associated equipment such as blowers, pumps, fans, motor controls
An ability to collaborate, consult and build strong relationships
Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, Power Point, Bluebeam
Strong written and verbal communications skills
This position requires a combination of office work and field work
This position requires candidate to be on site in San Diego County (Santee), CA. No remote or hybrid considerations
A proactive and perceptive outlook to achieve results
A strong capability for identifying, assessing and managing both risks and opportunities
Additional Information
Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation in California will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $230,000.
