What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Test Engineering position at AEROJET?
We are seeking a Manager, Propulsion Test Engineering to join our team in Culpeper, VA site.
Reporting to Manager, Test Engineering, this position will plan, organize and technically direct test engineering and operations activities and staff. Types of tests consist of static rocket motor firings, direct-connect ramjet/scramjet testing, altitude simulation test firings, case proof and burst pressure testing, case structural loads testing, aero-heat material testing, and dynamic/environmental testing. The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for providing engineering analysis and oversight of product test requirements and performance in a safe, environmentally sound, secure, cost effective and timely manner; planning and conducting of all testing including proposal, test procedure, test plan preparation, test conduct and data review; critical reviews to assure that designs, tests and experiments are properly performed to attain test objectives; and maintaining functional integrity in the verification of hardware and/or software performance. In this role, you will function as an advisor on all projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group and results are typically accomplished through experienced, exempt employees.
The Test Engineers under your supervision may either be Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control Test Engineers or Mechanical Test Engineers, depending on your expertise/qualifications.
- Electrical, Instrumentation, & Control (ICE) Engineers are responsible for providing technical and operational support for test activities, including selection, procurement, calibration, and installation of instrumentation; planning, integration and operational support of special electrical test equipment; development, implementation, and maintenance of facility and test article control software and hardware.
- Mechanical Test Engineers engineers work with customers, program managers and project engineers to define test objectives and identify and select test methods and instrumentation. They then create plans and procedures for safely conducting these tests, utilizing our existing four test facilities and equipment, and/or designing new tools or techniques.
