The Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) is a world-class engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing systems. This is a full-time position based in Hybrid, Onsite El Segundo, CA.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Serves as a project lead to perform failure analysis of electronic components: prepare studies and projects, initiate acquisition of resources, develop schedules, deliver analytical reports of findings, and present results and recommendations.
  • Mentoring the team on failure investigations of electronic device failures, common failure analysis tools and equipment, standard electrical characterization techniques, industry standard procedures and criteria for part deconstruction and evaluation.
  • Develops plans for analytical studies on part reliability risk as well as future technology planning and implementation.
  • Collaborate with management, customer, contractor, and/or component supplier personnel during analysis. Provides technical insight to management, customers, and associate contractors.
  • Lead the team on independent verification and validation of contractor's methods for root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Establishes standard practices and documents processes and procedures, write technical reports and papers.
  • Develops strategic plans for improvements and/or upgrades of lab equipment, analysis methods, procedures, etc.
  • Develops new characterization techniques to meet the challenges of analyzing emerging technologies in electronic components.


What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Eight or more years of industry-related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team to plan, conduct, and execute tasks to solve technical problems
  • Experience with using typical Failure Analysis instruments (e.g. scanning electron microscope), non-destructive and destructive evaluation techniques
  • Fundamental knowledge of common failure modes of high reliability electronic parts
  • Ability to work in a laboratory setting
  • Ability to communicate requirements, deadlines, and priorities to manager, team members, laboratory technicians
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and to work off-business hours to support customer needs, approximately 10% (as required)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Experience collaborating with contractors, industry working groups, and/or associations such as NASA Electronics Parts Assurance Group, Defense Logistics Agency, Joint Electron Device Engineering Council, Automotive Electronics Council, during the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of active electronic parts for space-related applications

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
