- Performs a broad range of law enforcement, crime prevention and evidence gathering duties as a Civilian Defender at AFRl, Det 15.
- Patrols the installation on foot; responds to alarms, irregularities, and unusual or suspicious circumstances.
- Requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as periods of standing, running, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. Engaging in such exertions when responding to alarms, pursuing suspects, or participating in weapons or other kinds of training activities, climbinG stairs in office buildings.
- Performs duties that effectively deter or prevent commission of damage, pilferage, vandalism or sabotage to Air Force equipment or property and protect Air Force and contractor personnel IAW DoD, Air Force and State of Hawaii regulations and instructions.
- Performs other duties as needed in support of the installation security forces operation including administrative duties in support of priority resource, resource protection, confrontation management, counter-terrorism/force protection, physical security, operations security, information security, personnel and industrial security duties.
- Participates in joint training, exercises, and evaluations.
- Effectively performs basic life support procedures that are non-invasive.
- Executes all functions of a USAF Combat Arms section IAW regulations. Specific duties include but are not limited to conducting AFQC and USAF Security Forces specific weapons qualification for personnel annually and proficiency firing quarterly; train sufficient number of RSOs and SMC instructors; maintain and service M4/M9/M18 weapons systems; maintain and secure two arming points; develop, train and enforce weapon issue procedures.
- Plans ammunition resupply milestones; ensures sufficient amounts of duty and training ammo are correctly forecasted, stored and accounted.

- This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
- Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, required physical fitness/physical agility tests, meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth. The incumbent must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements.
- Employee is required to obtain and maintain required security clearance
- Must wear a uniform and meet applicable dress and appearance standards as identified in current Air Force Instructions.
- Will be required to work an uncommon tour of duty, to include nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, rotating shifts, and recall.
- May be required to wear protective clothing such as coats, boots, and vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (respirator mask).
- Must undergo initial job compatibility assessment.
- Must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. Appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
- Subject to annual duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard.
- Must pass a 10 week in residence Federal Law Enforcement Training Course or 12 week Basic Police Officer course through the United States Marine Corps.
- Will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties.
- It is required to obtain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
- Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques and procedures, necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations.
- Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g. Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function, which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: To ensure compliance with an applicable nationwide preliminary injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. Therefore, to the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to Executive Order 14043, that requirement does not currently apply.
