Summary:
Providing both emergency and non-emergency transport of patients, ATI Emergency Medical Technician's will collaborate with Municipal, County, and private Fire / rescue services as well as other medical staff, patients and family members. EMT’s will take great care in the maintenance and operation of company vehicles, and shall thoroughly and accurately complete and submit all required documentation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prompt and regular attendance at work.
- Provide quality patient care utilizing thorough knowledge of protocols
- Assess and treat with appropriate techniques (resources and equipment), any medical situation while maintaining the highest standard of patient care and professionalism according to current company standards.
- Must maintain neat and professional appearance at all times in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Maintain the ambulance and equipment in a clean, organized and response ready mode
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the ambulance and equipment, its function and use and reporting defective equipment and supplies to the supervisor as required
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other individuals within the community and EMS system
- Responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures provided in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Medical Operations Manual and Code of Conduct
- Responsible for maintaining current state and county certifications
- Must attend all Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses as required by ATI/MedFleet Clinical Services
- Performs other such duties as may be required
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Florida EMT-B certification (Information for out-of-state applicants or to renew click here)
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver license upon offer of employment.
- Current BLS Certification
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
- Working in a wide range of environments and hazardous conditions.
- Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
- Subject to many interruptions.
- Subject to irregular hours.
- Frequent pressure due to multiple tasks, radio calls and inquires.
- Requires judgment/action which could result in the death of a patient.
- Requires ability to multi-task.
- Subject to recall during declared or undeclared major emergencies pursuant to F.S. 252.
- Stooping, sitting, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pulling, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.
- Ability to lift and carry patients weighing in excess of 250 pounds, with assistance, without causing harm or aggravating injuries to the patient or themselves.
- Frequent lifting of people and equipment of 100 pounds; extensive, or considerable standing/walking; Lifts positions, pushes and/or transfers patients; lifts supplies/equipment; manual dexterity and mobility; intermittent exertion when performing treatments.
- Work requires moderate exposure to one or more disagreeable conditions (i.e., irate customers, inclement weather, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, odors or dust).
- This position requires moderate exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety (e.g. exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment) This position often requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and includes completing and successfully passing medical evaluations or clearances.
