Lexington ISD is a 3A school with a successful four teacher agricultural program in Lee County,
Texas. Lexington is approximately equidistant to Bryan/College Station and Austin. We are in
the Star District and Area XII. We provide a wide range of agricultural educational opportunities
for our students.
Expectations beyond the classroom for this position include (shared across the Ag/FFA teaching
team) attendance and representation at the county and major shows, CDE/LDE events,
conferences, FFA conventions, officer campus, events, meetings, and LCJLS (Lee County
Junior Livestock Show) meetings. This person should be able to, with the teaching team,
manage a comprehensive agriculture program that includes a variety of agriculture course
offerings. The departmental Programs of Study include:
Primary classroom responsibilities will include: Horticulture, Advanced Plant & Soil Science,
Floral Design and Practicum of Agriculture. Flexibility in course offerings aligned with a
coherent sequence is available.
Individuals should be able to credentialed students in the Texas State Floral Association Floral
Certification Industry Based Certifications. Alternatively, certifications available through the CEV
Multimedia platform aligned to course content will work as well.
Teaching credentials should include: a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and a
valid Texas teaching certificate (or alternative certification program eligibility with statement of
eligibility) in Agricultural Science or closely related coursework.
