Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill up to five part time (a maximum of 20 hours per week during academic terms and a maximum of 40 hours per week during academic breaks) Berry Crops Research Field Assistant positions for the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
Employee will assist in field, greenhouse and laboratory work to support the USDA / OSU cooperative berry breeding program at the USDA - ARS -Horticultural Crops Research Lab in Corvallis, OR. and one or more days/week at the North Willamette Research and Extension Center ( NWREC ) in Aurora, OR.

A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services ( OIS ), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of t University: therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, posses and maintain a current , valid driver's license in the state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OSU Standard 125-155-0200) as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq.

- Operation of farm equipment
- Field planting
- Pruning
- Hoeing/weeding
- Mowing
- Trellis building
Greenhouse Duties:
- Watering/fertilizing plants
- Transplanting
- Labeling
- Keeping work area clean
Lab Duties:
- Cleaning dishes
- Preparation of tissue culture media
- Collecting and entering data into spreadsheets
Must be able to:
- Perform assigned tasks without close supervision
- Pay attention to detail
- Work indoors/outdoors; sit/stand/walk for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs.; tolerate exposure to dust; fumes, noise, sun and summer temperatures; have a valid drivers license and be willing to drive at the request of the supervisor.

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
- Student worker will be required to work up to an approximate 40 hours per week
- Hours are flexible during the fall, winter, spring terms if appointment is extended into the school year
