Agapanthus is looking for a result-driven retail Full-Time Sales Assistant Manager with a track record of achieving excellent sales for its boutique in the most exciting and growing retail environment in Gainesville, Butler Town Center.

Agapanthus is an individually owned lifestyle boutique that sells women's apparel and accessories, gifts, and home items, specializing in wedding gift registry; with all categories represented by the top brands in the industry. Agapanthus also specializes in unique and custom items, combining with these top brands and excellent customer service to bring an elevated and exciting shopping experience like no other.

The Assistant Manager must have an outgoing personality and enjoy working with people and our brands, be able to develop excellent customer relations, be capable with our systems, and desirous of a "Team" environment.

Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Manager include working closely owner to develop loyal customer relationships by making every customer feel welcome, determining their needs, communicating value and quality of Agapanthus products appropriately to those needs, demonstrating the extra value of shopping in a local boutique with "above and beyond" service such as gift wrap and rewards membership, as well as experience in satisfactorily resolving customer complaints .

Wedding gift registry is a specialty of ours and will be part of the training.

On the technical side, the Assistant Manager must be adept at POS systems, email, receiving of merchandise, and creating transfer to our sister store, understanding of how our e-comm business works.

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for oversight and working with the team on daily operation of the shop and to maintain the store's visual appearance at its highest level, and followup on customer issues.

Ultimately, the duties of a sales associate are to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store’s sales goals.

Hours are 11 - 7 pm Monday - Saturday, 12 - 5 pm Sunday. Must be available to open and/or close, and work any/all during "black out" season of Nov - Dec 24th.

Responsibilities

  • Present a positive and welcoming impression of the shop for every customer and in each encounter.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service and follow through
  • Develop full knowledge of products sold as to impart value to customer, and be able to point out options
  • Full knowledge of systems
  • Communicate well with team members and store owner
  • Follow and achieve department’s sales goals on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
  • Maintain in-stock and presentable condition of all store areas, following daily routines and direction of merchandiser
  • Process POS (point of sale) purchases
  • Cross sell and up sell products
  • Handle returns of merchandise
  • Build confidence and success with team
  • Build productive trust relationships with customers
  • Comply with inventory control procedures
  • Suggest ways to improve sales (e.g. planning marketing activities)

Skills

A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus. Proven work experience as a Retail Sales associate, Sales representative or similar role

  • Trustworthy and outgoing
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
  • Proficiency in English
  • Basic Math skills
  • Working knowledge of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • Track record of over-achieving sales quota
  • Hands-on experience with POS transactions
  • Strengths in computer systems and online retail a plus
  • Familiarity with inventory procedures
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner
  • Availability to work flexible shifts
  • High school degree; BS degree in Marketing or related field would be a 'plus'

Additional Compensation: Incentive bonuses and discounts.
