- Develop and refine all EHS procedures in accordance with regulatory and corporate EHS requirements
- Manage emergency response capabilities
- Participate on all facilities project teams to ensure compliance with all regulatory and corporate EHS requirements
- Advise Management on all EHS matters
- Conduct all accident and near miss investigations
- Review and approve the proposed introduction of new chemicals, equipment and processes to the site
- Maintain all safety systems including fire detection and suppression systems
- Develop, implement and maintain safety management and training programs in support of the company EHS Policy.
- Provide input to site managers by identifying and tracking appropriate safety metrics and assessing performance.
- Ensures compliance with company EHS policies and regulatory requirements and works with business unit managers and associates to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Provide guidance to assigned units by participating in capital project reviews consistent with the level of EHS expertise needed.
- Facilitates the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices.
- Provide safety expertise to line organizations in areas such as: incident investigations, ergonomics, electrical safety, machine guarding, confined space entry, lock-out/tag-out, emergency response, etc.
- Provides guidance to safety subcommittees along with coordinating team and standard meetings
- Participate in the review of new projects, sites, and research initiatives to ensure proper implementation of Company EHS programs and policies, provide EHS consulting services to operations and business units.
- Review and interpret new and proposed regulations for applicability, develop associated implementation and training programs and procedures.
- Participate in professional industry groups to further develop individual capabilities and to benchmark company activities.
Manage regulatory compliance on issues relating to chemical, environmental and procedural issues and apply them appropriately to company operations
Participate in complex case management related to workplace injuries
Serve as the site subject matter expert in the application of applicable EH&S regulation to the operations of the facility
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Indicate the qualifications and number of years of experience required, including areas that are industry specific.
BS/BA in a EHS related technical, scientific, or engineering discipline preferred.
4-6 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, agriculture, or related field; with increasing responsibilities.
Experience in the collection, evaluation and reporting of EHS data.
Experience in working and communicating with others at various levels within the organization.
Ability to build relationships and to gain cross-functional support.
Ability to provide technical guidance and expertise, act as a subject matter expert.
Organizational skills a must
