We’re offering an exciting career opportunity as an Ag Advisor for our Columbus, NE location. In this role, you will be building relationships with producers to grow Frontier’s business focusing on the sales of our seed, nutrient, and crop protection products. The Ag Advisor will create opportunities for growth that aligns with business vision and growth strategies while aligning with our core values. Spending a significant amount of your time on farms, you will be focused on both expanding existing relationships and adding new accounts to the territory. Enjoy working in a role where you truly place the customers’ needs first.

Our ideal candidate brings: 

  • Prior sales experience with an understanding/passion for agriculture; we are open to other ag product/machinery sales backgrounds, or sales outside the industry looking to be in ag 

  • Proven ability to build relationships and deliver customer-oriented solutions 

  • Professional communication and natural ability to connect with others  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relatable experience preferred 

In this role you will: 

  • Establish and maintain quality customer relationships by following customer service standards 

  • Communicate with all Ag Advisors and Location Supervisors to best coordinate services, machinery, equipment, spray orders and employees to efficiently meet the needs of the customer. 

  • Analyze, recommend, and resolve customer service problems by making appropriate recommendations and provide quality follow-ups. 

  • Analyze producer’s crop production history, future yield expectations, soil type and fertility, current crop production equipment, product effectiveness, and producer crop production knowledge base. 

  • Develop the producer’s crop production plan that focuses on the most efficient and effective methods to improve crop production.  

  • Make recommendations to producers on seed type and size, crop rotations, type and amounts of dry or liquid fertilizer, type and amounts for herbicide, fungicide, or insecticide treatments. 

  • Calculate and present pricing plans on seed, fertilizer, chemicals, and application services, negotiate prices, apply discounts, process pre-pays and invoices, explain terms and conditions of products or services, and resolve pricing and billing issues.  

  • Prepare and process customer order products through various vendors including receiving, unloading, and delivering products as needed.  

  • Develop aerial maps using satellite software program to establish specific crop fields, plat lines, waterways, plat descriptions, number of acres, and specific amounts of chemicals or fertilizers to be applied to mapped fields.  

  • Conduct application calculations of specific chemicals and fertilizer amounts based on soil fertility, plant health, weed and insect counts. 

  • Prepare and distribute application tickets, maps and directions to manager or dispatcher on the proper fields to be treated.  

  • Inspect fields to determine effectiveness of seed, chemical and/or fertilizer products 

  • Inspect and assess plant health, fungus issues, weed and insect population count and recommend treatments. 

  • Assess and forecast future sales.  

  • Develop and implement a marketing plan to develop, grow and maintain a customer base 

  • Assist in preparations of fertilizer, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and seed test plots to promote products. 

  • During harvest, assess results and use data to adjust and/or modify next season’s crop production plan.  

  • Ensure standards of health, safety, and security to customers, vendors, and employees by following all company, OSHA, and EPA safety standards and regulations.
