Follow all work instructions and procedures to assist in the set-up and operation of headers. To produce quality parts that meets the blueprint and customer requirements. Reports to the lead person, and/or header group leader, and/or manufacturing supervisor, and/or Manufacturing Manager. RESPONSIBILTIIES
- Run fast-moving header machines with quality in mind at all times.
- Responsible for the quality of work by checking parts visual and dimensions (e.g. using micrometers, calipers, and comparator, etc.) Recording information on the In-Process Sheets and Statistical Process Control Charts (SPC).
- Operator must be able to read blueprints to ensure headed blank dimensions correspond to print dimensions.
- Must be able to do math, read measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
- Responsible for reporting all excessive use of tooling, defective materials or equipment to the Foreman or lead person.
- Operators are responsible for always keeping machines and surrounding areas clean and free of foreign material and will not have tooling lying around in the work area that could cause personal injury or machine damage. This can include mopping floors.
- Prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling and lifting.
- Willing to purchase own necessary tools.
- Must use/wear proper safety equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses and ear protection. Must be able to install and adjust tooling by using hand tools (e.g. wrenches, hammers, cutters, grinders, etc.).
- Must be physically able to use appropriate tools to set-up and tear-down the header machine for parts that must run on the machine. This can include wrenching, lifting, going up and down 3-4 steps, kneeling, bending, etc. Must be able to keep machines running. As experience increases, may be responsible for keeping 4-5 machines running at one time.
- Must be able to dump parts.
- Must be able to lift 35#, possibly on a repetitive basis.
- Must be able to work all scheduled hours, including OT and Saturdays. This includes 10-12 hours per day Mon.-Fri. and 6-8 hours on Saturday.
- 3 years of manufacturing experience
- Experience with setting up, operating and troubleshooting cold heading equipment and machines
- PC Literate
- Able to read blueprints and use micrometers, calipers, comparators, and various other measuring gauges.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs. repeatedly.
