The South Valley Farms is seeking a reliable Field Technician to join our team in the Patterson and Turlock areas. The Technician to maintain and ensure the water distribution system is always operable and efficient
Responsibilities:
- Understand the optimal operation of the irrigation controls computer system, pumping and filtration stations, including hydraulics and efficiency standards of vertical turbine and centrifugal pumps.
- Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions on pumps, motors and motor control panels.
- Monitor stations and proactively inspect pumps and motors for needed maintenance/repairs.
- Support the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Make timely repairs and maintains water distribution system components; operates to prevent and avoid damage.
- Record and maintain an accurate filing system on all maintenance procedures.
- Work with field and farm water users, including management, on coordinating the maintenance and repairs of pumps and motors with repair shops.
- Available 24/7 during peak irrigation season to respond to system emergencies.
- Champion a world class safety culture by becoming familiar with safety devices, emergency shutdown procedures and lockout-tagout procedures. Attend and actively participate in regular safety training.
Qualifications:
- 2 years related experience.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a First Aid and CPR card. Able to become certified in operating a Boom Truck, Forklift, and other equipment.
- Knowledge of pump station operation and basic repair, PLCs, and water distribution systems.
- Equipped with own quality tools as required to safely and properly perform job duties.
- Strong demonstrated interpersonal, team work, and communication skills. Bilingual Spanish helpful.
- Proficient technical skills with ability to safely troubleshoot.
- Meet the physical requirements off the role which includes occasional lifting up to 70 pounds, bending, kneeling, and twisting throughout work period. Stepping up, stepping down, and kneeling required. Wrist, hand, and finger movement that encompasses squeezing, rotating, bending. Arm movement encompasses extension, raising, and bending. Neck movement encompasses raising, rotating, forward, backward, and side to side. Occasional long-term standing and walking during work. Long-term sitting required.
