AgriNorthwest is seeking an enthusiastic Geographic Information Systems Analyst to join our highly collaborate GIS team. This is a practical, hands-on position using GIS tools to produce cartographic products for the broad needs of our agriculture and land-based company. The GIS Analyst works with other departments to identify GIS needs which includes digitally maintaining fields/pastures, roads, legal deeds, and water-related data sets. A successful Analyst fulfills customer requests well while maintaining corporate process strategy and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Research problems, such as development of planning/modeling, mapping, or assessing geologic and environmental factors, as well as recommend procedures to increase data accessibility and ease of use.
- Design database and coordinate physical changes to database, applying additional knowledge of spatial feature representations, such as points, lines, polygons, and geographic information system.
- Develop and maintain, in cooperation with the company GIS developer(s), web-based GIS applications, not limited to server, web applications, editing, and analysis.
- Provide mapping services to assigned operations to enhance use and management of land and water resources.
- Perform basic title research, analyze surveys, and review/draft property legal descriptions.
- Create output, such as maps and graphs, using computer and GIS software and related equipment. Present information to users and answers questions.
- Participate as a team member on various projects that lend themselves to be developed in a GIS environment.
- Review existing and incoming data for accuracy, quality, consistency, usefulness, and documentation.
- Oversee entry of data including application of coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, scanning and automatic conversion to vectors, and conversion of other sources of digital data.
- Support maintaining data standards throughout the company; administer and maintain assigned operation's components within companywide Enterprise SDE Geodatabase environment, enforcing data standards and policies, including quality standards for data gathering.
- Maintain and correct spatial data by actively participating as a team member of the corporate GIS mapping group, which recommends and maintains companywide GIS standards led by the GIS Manager.
- Collect high quality GPS data, including as an advanced user of mobile GPS devices.
- Provide technical support for GPS field applications used in production agriculture: tractor guidance systems, collector for ArcGIS, Survey123 for ArcGIS, Drone2Map for ArcGIS, etc.
- Provide technical assistance, training, and policy guidance as a subject-matter expert on the ESRI product line: ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other ArcGIS Apps products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to GIS/mapping and/or agriculture such as agronomy;
- Minimum 5 years hands on experience with GIS and specifically Geodatabases, including editing, updating, and modifying the schema using domains, relationship classes, topologies, and geometric networks.
- Min. 10yrs combination of GIS and agriculture experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
- In-state driver’s license with ability to travel locally, within the US and internationally.
- Professional experience using ESRI's ArcGIS software, high-end GPS units and ArcPad or similar software.
- Exposure to production agriculture, either professionally or personally, helpful
- Previous experience using AutoCAD drawings in ESRI products a plus.
- Ability to design professional cartographic products.
- Excellent leadership, verbal, written, problem-solving and listening skills.
- Advanced skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation.
- Willing and able to spend up to 50% of time in the field collecting GPS and other data, which includes exposure to outside weather conditions.
