Job Purpose: You are a practicing veterinarian that is responsible for the efficacy of the veterinarian training programs at Animal Humane Society. This includes bringing learning and development value to veterinarians employed by AHS as part of externship programs. Additionally, you are responsible for the veterinary standards set for training in other roles such as Veterinary Technicians. As a compassionate and focused leader, you support and lead the team by caring personally and challenging professionally. You ensure continuous improvement and employee development.
Pay: $105,000.00- $120,000.00 based on experience
Schedule: Full-Time 40 hours per week
Location: Primarily at our Golden Valley location and occasionally at our other locations which include St. Paul. Woodbury and Coon Rapids

What you will be doing:
Leadership – Own outcomes, work collaboratively and hold self and team accountable. Model the coaching approach to leadership and participate in first teams.
Strategy – Understand and commit to the requirement of excellence, continuous improvement, and department and organizational goals. Understand, improve and develop service offerings.
Communication – Listen, pay attention and be a responsible steward of information. Distill and convey information in a clear, complete and timely manner in alignment with organizational messaging.
Support – Lead the team, consulting experts as needed. Balance both office responsibilities, training, and veterinary work. Monitor industry trends, manage intern scheduling and timecards, and departmental budget. Foster the relationship with U of MN.
Culture - Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS Behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Maintain a safe work environment by following AHS protocols and policies. Work with AHS volunteers in a positive and effective way to advance the mission of AHS and facilitate meaningful volunteer engagement.

What we are looking for:
Experience – Minimum of three years of veterinary experience. Proven leadership experience or a desire to lead required. Must hold a valid Minnesota license to practice Veterinary Medicine.
Adaptability – Ability to work in a professional and positive manner, balancing shifting priorities to meet the needs of the organization.
Communication – Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a leader of the team and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.
Emotional Capabilities – Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of working of in a high-volume clinic and shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia. Must have a high level of resiliency.
Schedule – Availability to work during operational hours as defined by leadership with the expectation to work varied hours including evening and weekend shifts.
