Balazs Nanoanalysis is a contract analytical laboratory owned by Air Liquide Electronics is world-wide leader in supplying gases, specialty chemicals and services to a wide variety of industries. Balazs Nanoanalysis operates analytical labs around the world serving both internal and external clients. We support clients in a wide array of industries including semiconductor, biotechnology, aerospace/defense industry, solar, energy storage, automotive and many others. Our highly-skilled chemists assist other scientists and engineers from companies in these fields to support a wide array of activities such as quality assurance, contamination studies, R&D and failure analysis.

This position directs the R&D operations within Balazs. The R&D Director manages a team of scientists and other technical talent, who are focused on delivering the latest technical advances to the customer. The R&D Director influences strategy and operation plans. As the leader for their organization, they are responsible for ensuring the R&D staff in their organization have the appropriate training and guidance to effectively do their jobs and move research forward.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical advisor, turning cutting edge technical advances into solutions for the customer
• Direct, manage and assist all activities with Balazs R&D personnel and other laboratories as needed with first priorities to ensure safety and quality of data generated by the lab.
• In tandem with other directors and managers, ensure safety and workflow in all aspects of the laboratories
• Ensure the ISO compliance, both general and 17025, is maintained for the Balazs laboratories.
• Ensure accurate evaluation, interpretation, and verification of data (samples, calibration, and quality control) for analyses performed in the laboratory.
• Maintain expertise on all quality items including but not limited to document control, training and quality incident reporting for the lab.
• Provide/ensure preventative maintenance for instrumentation in the laboratory.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the lab and company (method evaluations, quality functions, quality assurance issues, etc.).
• Transfer analytical methods and technologies to production labs
• Produce external publication/presentation of non-proprietary R&D projects
• Participate in semiconductor industry organizations to establish new standards
• Member of the Director's team of the Analytical Services Business Unit

• PhD in Chemistry, or equivalent
• 10 years semiconductor experience
• R&D management experience
• Recognized as a subject matter expert, through formal certification or industry recognition programs
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work with others and lead a team
• Highly organized, disciplined, and goal oriented
• Must possess strong communication skills: verbal and written
• Possess a good work ethic and know how to get things done in a matrix environment
• Work safely at all times and ensure a safety culture and a safe working environment in the laboratory.
