RequirementsPreferred candidates should have 4-6 years' experience, previous supervision experience, excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to recommend process improvements, a B.
S. degree (or equivalent combination of experience and education), experience with QS 9000 or TS 16949, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair minor machine problems.
Supervises and coordinates activities or workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, grounds, and machines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Interprets and enforces company policies.Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders.Assigns duties to members.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.Analyzes and resolves work problems.
Assists workers in solving work problems.Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.Maintains time and production records.
Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Sets up machines and equipment.Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.Performs activities of workers supervised.
Analyze production forecast to determine equipment necessary to meet production goals.Examines materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications.
Manages the departmental budget.Oversees training for members in the department.Administers the material management system (Kanban).
Reviews quality problems with engineering personnel and directs action required to correct defects.Prepares periodic and special reports concerning departmental activities, problems, schedules, and rejected items.
Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
