Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Import & Export Manager(NVOCC) to join our operations team in our Atlanta, Georgia office. The Import & Export Manager (NVOCC) will be responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, effectively quoting & coordinating both import & export shipments, and will be the go-to person for creative operational problem solving. The ideal candidate should be service oriented, proactive, adaptable, and have extensive import & export documentation and international freight forwarding experience.
Scope of Responsibility:
- Supervise and support NVOCC Operations team members with creative ideas and out-of-the box problem solving.
- Manage domestic and international import & export shipments for key customers.
- Book shipments with steamship lines and truckers.
- Coordinate with loading facilities, truckers, ocean carriers, and other vendors in the US and internationally.
- Prepare required documentation for each shipment.
- Track and trace cargo.
- Update all systems with shipping and customer information.
- Provide constant communication and updates to customers.
- Manage all pricing for key customer accounts to ensure that correct information is in the system for billing.
- Send invoices to customer to ensure timely payment.
- Manage and further develop effective flow of work to attain optimum efficiency and productivity of department.
- Initiate, promote, support and implement change in order to increase organizational effectiveness.
- Identify the existence and cause of problems and solutions to correct them.
- Manage communication with import or export related authorities, customers and suppliers.
- Negotiate with vendors to provide sales or customers with rates and transportation options.
- Meet with truck vendors, shipping lines, etc to address any issues or to discuss future business
- Maintain TSA compliance
- Participate in outside sales activities with sales or management staff if needed.
- File FMC’s to Air and/or Ocean team and check existing rates in place for validity
- Assist staff with any shipment issues they might have
- Provide excellent leadership to the department
- Complete shipments in accordance to the business processes

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or related experience required.
- Five (5) years or more of ocean import & export experience with a NVOCC, freight forwarder, or customs house brokerage is required.
- Previous international import/export documentation experience and knowledge is required.
- Working knowledge of various modes of transportation, including ocean carrier and drayage (trucking) experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word is required.
- Knowledge of incoterms is a plus.
- High School diploma or GED
- Knowledge of procedures for international and domestic freight, trucking and warehouse services
- TSA compliant preferred but not necessary
- Understanding of regulatory compliance with imports/export rules and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must be self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
- Must be detail oriented, have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
Language Requirements:
- Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write in English fluently.
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
