AJR Trucking was honored as two top U.S.P.S. awards winner at the National Postal Forum (NPF) in May 2023: 2022 Supplier Excellence Award and 2023 Transportation Partner of the Year Award.

The HR Generalist with emphasize on payroll will report to the Human Resources Manager and will support all duties associated with the accurate recording, processing, and administering the full payroll cycle. This role will work closely with the company’s other departments and ADP. Along with supporting HR with the daily operations and tasks including compliance, employee relations, interviewing, hiring, administering pre-employment tests and background checks, termination, training and development, benefits, compensation, and personnel records administration. Perform all functions related to HR & Payroll, including but not limited to:
  • Overseeing and directing all payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations, supervising the payroll team, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
  • Reconciling payroll.
  • Balancing, and recording all payroll, accruals, reconciliation, research of reconciling items, data requests, etc.
  • Process and transmit weekly and biweekly payroll for 3 entities using ADP Workforce Now- 550 Employees.
  • Analyze and provide monthly and quarterly balance sheet analysis to corporate accounting.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams on all general ledger-related tasks, including accounting. 
  • Engage with external payroll vendors and tax authorities related to researching and resolving payroll tax notices, tax filing, and funding of payroll taxes.
  • Ensure controls, including all controls, are properly performed within the payroll accounting process.
  • Evaluate and recommend process changes to increase efficiency.
  • Provide relevant tax and general ledger metrics to upper management.
  • Assist with research projects and preparation of management reports as needed.
  • Lead quarterly and annual audits with external auditors as needed.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting financial data.
  • Responds to human resources related inquiries or requests.
  • Assist with all HR KPI's being established and reported monthly.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and coordination.
  • Work with the Safety department on recruitment and on-boarding of employees.
  • Conduct background check of newly hired employees.
  • Properly document all the steps leading to termination of an employee.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Manage workers compensation cases.
  • Manage the personnel filing. 
  • Track and process employee time off requests of vacation, sick time, FMLA, CFRA, PDL etc.
  • Distribute and monitor employee performance evaluations and ensure they are done in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the Performance Management process completing performance reviews.
  • Coordinate open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
  • Communicate in a manner designed to minimize conflict and foster a positive relationship between management and associates.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
 Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll and general accounting.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of recent multi-state employment tax experience, including but not limited to federal/state/local tax regulations and the filing of associated tax returns.
  • Relevant experience in Human Resources with a minimum of 3-5 years.
  • Proven track record in the broad HR knowledge in federal and state employment laws, benefits, compensation, employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, policy implementation, recruiting, retention and conflict resolution, etc.
  • Able to work independently managing time to meet critical deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all assignments and in all information obtained.
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility to work extended hours during critical periods such as quarter-end and year-end.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, multi-jurisdictions, and software.
  • ADP Workforce Now experiences is required.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels in the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to translate plans into action.
  • Performs with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft business suite with strong excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Quick Books, TMW preferred.
  • Working with Service Contract Act and fringe benefits payroll experience is highly preferred.
  • Prevailing wage experience is highly preferred.
  • Transportation industry experience desired.
Pay: 
The pay is competitive, depending on experience ($65K - $73K) and will be discussed during an in-person interview.
