Akelius is seeking a tax accountant to join the finance team.
The tax accountant will oversee and analyze all financial and tax matters specific to the US Akelius offices.
- act as US tax regulations & financial regulations expert
- prepare federal/state income tax return working in compliance with federal and state tax returns regulations
- identify tax solutions to complicated tax questions advise management about the impact of new tax laws
- assist with payroll, W-2’s, and 1099’s
- prepare property tax returns
- prepare tax provision and reporting current and deferred tax to the group
- assist local US operation together with the finance colleagues based in Toronto
- coordinate with all internal and external auditors to ensure tax and accounting compliance of the US operation
- perform other duties as needed
who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field
- 5 years of related work experience
- CPA, EA, or licensed preparer required
- proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- experience with Yardi Software is a plus
- excellent communication, organizational, and attention to detail skills
- self-motivated individual
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- initiative to meet assigned goals, missions, and objectives
