Essential Functions

- Promote and maintain an outstanding customer experience that can only be found at Al’s Garden and Home for all guests who enter the retail location.
- Oversee ordering product for all plant departments and complete all appropriate paperwork for all assigned areas.
- Assist store management in ensuring all duties and responsibilities of assigned areas are completed as well as ensuring area needs and proper product placement.
- Provide feedback to buyers on replenishment and product needs.
- Along with store management, the Operations Lead is the steward of product. Ensure products in all assigned areas receive water, nutrients, maintenance, stocking and other care activities.
- Ensure all retail items are signed and tagged appropriately and accurately.
- Coordinate with the Receiving Team on receiving product orders, the distribution of the plants into the nursery and inspecting incoming orders for quality.
- Responsible for working in coordination with the Visual Merchandising Team and the Sales Team on end caps and product display.
- Assist with candidate interviews and new hire orientations.
- Responsible for the ensuring employees take scheduled breaks throughout the day.
- Provide feedback to the Store Manager on scheduling of employees on the Operations Team.
- Assist with seasonal floor plan in coordination with store management.
- Train Team Members in a manner that delivers proper product knowledge, develops superior customer service, builds and sustains a high-performance team to minimize turnover.
- Ability to perform all duties of an Operations Team Member.
- Perform keyholder functions such as completing all store opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
- Embrace a safety culture of injury and accident prevention by following safety policies and procedures.
- Achieve daily goals as communicated by the store management.
- Assist with all other related tasks or duties as assigned by store management.
- Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of annuals, perennials, houseplants, trees and shrubs or the willingness to seek and learn product.
- Forklift and Kubota certification preferred.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of computer software: Excel, Word, POS system.
- Ability to analyze situations, identify problems and implement solutions, and to effectively supervise the work of other associates.
- Proven record of ability to lead a team.
- Exceptional Math Skills
Physical Demands
This job requires the ability to work standing, walking, bending, and lifting 50 lbs. continuously throughout the day.
Work Environment
This job can operate on the sales floor, indoor and outdoor, and in an office environment as business requires.
