As the Alabama Freedom Center for the Blind Administrative Assistant I, you willassist staff with student intake, planning student/staff activities, completing purchase requisitions, billing and travel, and aiding with accessibility and accommodation issues.

You will be vital to ensuring that AIDB’s culture of inclusion is reinforced and that students feel connected, recognized and proud to be a part of the organization.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED from an accredited school or program.
· One-year successful work experience in secretarial or related field.
· Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Proven organizational and professional experience that illustrates self-motivation and the ability to exercise sound judgement and follow-through with minimum supervision.
· Illustrated experience which demonstrates diligence about detail and accuracy in work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Structured Discovery immersion experience and/or completion of a Structured Discovery program.
· Proven experience to include Google G-Suite (Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Drive, Word, Excel).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· If no previous exposure to the Structured Discovery methodology, immersion training either within the AFCB or another Structured Discovery program will be required within the first 12 months of hire.
· Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff; consumers and their families; program graduates; peers; advisory groups; and agencies such as the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services along with contemporary Structured Discovery Programs.
· Completion of AIDB online training on Deafness, Blindness, DeafBlindness and Multiple Disabilities within 12 months of hire.
· Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."
SALARY:$15.81- $18.40 Rank S5 Scale 31 (High School)
Bi- Monthly Payroll (260 Days)
Direct deposit is required.
