Job Posting for System Wide - Resource Specialist at Alabama State Department of Education
Certified - Resource Specialist Teacher
(10-month position)
Qualifications:
- Must have 5 years of teaching experience in Special Education or related field
- Must have obtained master's degree in Instructional Leadership or unconditionally accepted into an approved master's level Instructional Leadership program
- Must have completed or currently pursuing Multisensory Structured Language Educator (MSLE) certification
- Must have experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder testing and/or willing to pursue required training to conduct autism diagnostic testing.
- Must have working knowledge of Special Education policies and procedures as promulgated in the Alabama Administrative Code.
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Serve as lead resource teacher for the district
- Facilitate implementation of the dyslexia process throughout the district
- Provide teachers with the proper use of screening instruments as it relates to dyslexia
- Complete initial referrals and re-evaluations for students who are housed at the Hope, Twilight, or 180 Program
- Conduct Manifestation Hearings as directed by the Director of Special Education
- Serve as LEA as directed by the Director of Special Education
- Foster and facilitate the administration of diagnostic instruments and other assessments for district employees
- Develop and present various professional development opportunities for district staff related to Special Education and Multisensory Language Structured Education
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
