Job Summary And Qualifications
The Mobility Care Technician will support the work of the Registered Nurse and Physical Therapist throughout the inpatient units at Alaska Regional Hospital by providing care through patient handling, transfers, and ambulation.
Under the direction of the RN, PT, and physician, the Mobility Care Technician will champion the mobility effort of the hospital for assigned patients as advised by the hospitalist, RN and/or Rehabilitation Therapist. The Mobility Care Technician will support improving the patient’s functional mobility to advance the care of the patient towards established mobility goals. In this role you will:

Job Summary And Qualifications
The Mobility Care Technician will support the work of the Registered Nurse and Physical Therapist throughout the inpatient units at Alaska Regional Hospital by providing care through patient handling, transfers, and ambulation.
Under the direction of the RN, PT, and physician, the Mobility Care Technician will champion the mobility effort of the hospital for assigned patients as advised by the hospitalist, RN and/or Rehabilitation Therapist. The Mobility Care Technician will support improving the patient’s functional mobility to advance the care of the patient towards established mobility goals. In this role you will:
- Following an individualized mobility plan for positioning, transfers, and ambulation
- Utilize proper body mechanics for all patient handling and integrate use of lift equipment as needed
- Supervise all hospital lift equipment (Hoyer, Sara, Arjo Stedy)
- Place, remove, monitor all Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) machines
- Provide education to nursing staff regarding transfer strategies, body mechanics, and use of lift(s)
- Assist with activities of daily living
- Assist with therapeutic exercise and/or passive range of motion as directed by the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist
- Assist RN with patient procedures
- Remove restraints for patient transfers as indicated
- Assist with EKGs, phlebotomy, capillary blood glucose testing
- Complete clerical duties as assigned including; department statistical data entry and tracking, scheduling and registering patients, clinic stocking, equipment/supply ordering, DME management and distribution
- C.NA or EMT license preferred
- One (1) year of experience in acute or extended care preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
