Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Banquet Chef to join our team at our prestigious country club. The successful candidate will have a professional background in culinary arts and experience in high-volume event catering. Your primary role will be to oversee the kitchen staff, training them to prepare menu items while upholding portioning and plating standards. You will also assist with menu development for each event, ensuring our kitchen is sufficiently staffed and stocked.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee food preparation and catering for events, ensuring high-class quality and consistency at all times.
- Plan, organize, control, and direct employees.
- Coordinate banquet production and plating with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and Banquet Manager.
- Assist the Executive Chef with banquet menu planning and food purchasing.
- Maintain food preparation handling and correct storage standards.
- Plan and manage food quantities and plating requirements for all banquet functions.
- Continually enhance the culinary experience of banquet or event guests.
- Understand and consistently follow food safety practices.
- Possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Attend departmental staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Chef.
Qualifications
- Formal education from a culinary school or equivalent cooking experience.
- Extensive culinary knowledge and experience, attention to detail, creativity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and people management skills.
- Familiarity with food plating, portion control, and quality standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, physical stamina, and customer service skills.
- Prior work experience in a commercial kitchen is essential.
