What are the responsibilities and job description for the UX Solutions Architect I position at Alcor?
As a mid-level UX design specialist, you will be responsible for supporting and enabling design outcomes which are recognized as maturing human-centered design (HCD) for our healthrelated, federal customer. This role can be described as a “UX solutions developer” who will develop HCD subject-matter expertise (SME).
We (Alcor) describe/define design using five terms:
Design, Code, Content, Research, and Strategy.
This role primarily works in the design and research focuses. The “design”-related work consists of creating and evaluating features and interactions for COTS (“customized off the shelf “) and custom-built applications. Storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping interfaces (UI) are expected outputs for this job function. Supporting outputs will include working in research activities (customer and requirements validation) and maintaining product/process governance (UX). This work may be performed alongside another UI designer, UX researcher, and/or HCD SME.
The “research”-related aspects of this role consists of working alongside product owners, developers, testers, and stakeholders to define and refine product features, validate processes or expected interactions, and assess outcomes for usability, accessibility, performance, and simplicity (for example, performing a heuristic evaluation). The applicant is expected to grow in familiarity with common UX research methods and outcomes. They will work alongside other designers, developers, and testers to implement recommended changes.
As a result of this role, we are expecting the applicant to positively influence the increasing maturity of human-centered design (HCD) for our federal partner, and contribute to the harmony between design and development within the organization. We also expect for this person to grow and mature within this role to a higher level in the organization (senior UX, lead UX, principal UX, etc.). To facilitate these outcomes, this elected applicant would be paired with the Director of Design for coaching/mentoring, and be encouraged to explore and deepen their interests inside and outside of the experience design space.
