About This Position
The Boutique Cashier at Union City Market is responsible for selling retail merchandise including art, beer/wine, seafood, outdoor gear, clothing, and handmade goods and more. The Boutique Cashier should be well-versed in the surrounding area, including local geography, history, and local art/artists. Maintains a positive and creative atmosphere to develop and nurture ongoing relationships with customers and artists. The Boutique Cashier may also work at the Hook & Fork, a casual dining option outside Union City Market. Primary responsibilities include

  • Assist customers with their purchases to ensure customer satisfaction as well as a positive shopping experience.
  • Handle sales transactions ensuring accurate price and sales total, ensuring proper point-of-sale (POS) codes are used and processing customer tender via cash sales, credit card or gift card
  • Processing end of day reports and ensure timely and accurate cash drops at Alderbrook Resort & Spa – must be done end of day, every day.
  • Ensure all available inventories are on the floor and alert Market Manager if inventory on a particular item is running low to determine if it should be reordered.
  • Set up displays and merchandise inventory as appropriate for the season and merchandise being displayed.
  • Communicate with Marina Market Manager on all questions or concerns regarding inventory levels as well as requests, concerns or complaints by customers.
  • Work with Purchasing Manager to receive, verify quantity and condition and acknowledge receipt on receiving report making note of any damage or discrepancies of merchandise shipped.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe and clean inviting environment free of clutter and debris.
  • Know and adhere to any government or local health regulations regarding the handling and sale of food products.
  • Assure all pricing is in accordance with Market Managers direction and strategy.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • 2-5 years prior retail and/or farmer's market experience
  • Bachelor's degree in art, art history or related field, a plus
  • Experience making change, and small banking
  • Valid WA Food Handler Card - required within 14 days after hire

It is a controlled environment, and the position experiences some variation in temperature based on time of year and status of open/closed garage door access.   • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, bend and twist, push and pull, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. May require sustained visual and mental concentration.
