What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Inside Sales position at Alexandria Industries?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.
Business Operations and Sales
- Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
- Exhibit active leadership in order to model and support the company’s vision and strategies
- Participate in contract review and lead-time reduction efforts
- Manage sales expenses and complete expense reports in a timely manner
Technical Support
- Work closely with customers, prospects and internal teams to understand, clarify and incorporate prints, specifications, quality, delivery and supply expectations, such as non-disclosure agreements, terms and conditions, material contracts, etc.
- Review drawings as needed with estimators regarding tolerances or manufacturability
- Provide technical support relating to extrusion, materials, machining, fabrication, plastic injection and foam molding, and other manufacturing processes
Customer Focus
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships, and act as a liaison between sales team and internal departments
- Use division quote filters to qualify opportunities and follow-up with sales team members
- Partner with the internal operations teams to continuously improve quality, delivery, manufacturing, job costing, pricing
- Review customer satisfaction surveys and take action based on the feedback in order to develop and achieve customer satisfaction and retention goals
- Work with suppliers as directed to ensure the best value to the company and its customers
- Create good working relationships and work closely with all Alexandria Industries locations regarding business development strategies
- Manage sales activities for all designated customers
- Promote and help to stimulate growth for A.I.
- Assist with qualifying sales leads from marketing, as well as from the website and other lead generating websites, prior to distributing to outside sales team
- Manage and document sales pipeline process and activities; investigation, prospecting, qualification, quotation, proposals, follow-up, etc.
- Provide sales forecasting for all designated customers
- Work with customers on payment terms and participate with credit or collection if needed
- Coordinate with internal teams to maintain and monitor customer contracts

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
- Education:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Machine Tool Technology, Engineering, Sales, Business Management, or related program required
- Experience:
- 3 years of experience working in a custom manufacturing or engineering environment preferred
- 3 years of successful sales and business development experience preferred
- Prior experience in account management and communicating with customers
- Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Alexandria Industries business operations and procedures: aluminum extrusion, plastic injection molding, precision machining and other related manufacturing processes
- Understand alternative materials and processes
- Know all A.I. core competencies, services and customer profile guidelines
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite, CAD, CAM, Solidworks)
- Must be a highly organized and self-motivated individual able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Credible, with excellent business acumen and high level analysis skills
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
