Do you find joy in working with children and have experience cooking and managing a kitchen? Join our team and bring your culinary skills and abilities to our child care center where you will be responsible to cook for 60-75 children and manage the kitchen and all that entails!
Hours for the Cook position are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meet all applicable personnel qualifications under child care licensing requirements.
- Possess a valid food handler's card.
- Possess a valid driver's license and have a vehicle available for business use.
- Communication and math skills necessary to perform all required cooking, inventory management and cleaning tasks.
- Minimum 2 years of institutional food service experience preferred.
- Previous food service experience working in a child care facility or working in USDA-regulated programs preferred.
Responsibilities Include:
- Plan and post all menus and menu changes in compliance with applicable regulation
- Order and purchase food and food service supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with applicable regulations and internal procedures.
- Manage food and food service supply inventory in a cost-effective manner and in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
- Maintain all storage areas for food, food service supplies, cookware and dishes in a safe, clean and orderly state.
- Prepare food service area for meals.
- Prepare and serve all meals (typically breakfast, lunch and one snack)
- Maintain food preparation and food service areas in a clean, orderly and sanitary fashion that complies with all applicable fire, health & safety regulations.
- Clean and store dishes and cookware in a timely manner after use.
- Report maintenance problems in the kitchen and food service area to the Center Director
- Assist with the agency's preventative maintenance program, as directed.
- Perform other duties related to the food service function and food service area as assigned by the Center Director.
