Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the patient sitter will provide companionship, emotional support, and supervision to our patients in a variety of settings including in the home and in other healthcare settings. This position requires discretion and excellent communication skills to support patients who are undergoing challenging medical and emotional circumstances.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision, emotional support, and companionship to patients
- Create a positive and supportive environment
- Listen to patients and respond to their concerns
- Assist patient with basic requests
- Inform nurse if in a healthcare facility or family member if in the home setting when patients need help or intervention
- Report any unusual incidents or changes in the patient's behavior to the Registered Nurse
- Adhere to policies and procedures
- Work within your scope of practice. Patient sitters may not assist with personal care.
- Documents care provided in accordance with organization standards
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Current State of Florida Driver’s license with driving record acceptable to company’s insurance carrier; reliable transportation preferred
- Current Auto Insurance Card if driving
- Current TB testing, immunization or declination for Hepatitis B and flu.
- Level II background screening and drug testing
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Reliable transportation that allows employees to travel between patient locations.
- Furnish one or more active telephone numbers that enables management to contact employee should an unexpected change of work location be required.
Knowledge of:
Basic knowledge of health and safety
Skilled at:
- Ability to communicate and establish rapport with patients/families.
- Ability to handle challenging behaviors
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Pay: $15.00 per hour

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
