Overview
The Compliance Manager will contribute to a small but growing in-house legal and compliance department. This position will foster an environment that enhances and promotes compliance and adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations, applicable policies, and procedures. The Compliance Manager will assist the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer with coordination and management of the compliance program including compliance hotline administration, management and maintenance the compliance plan and HIPAA compliance and privacy programs.

The schedule is full-time, Monday – Friday, with a hybrid work environment (this is not a virtual or remote position but offers some flexibility to work from home on designated days).
Responsibilities
- Monitors program compliance, investigations and tracking of incidents and breaches
- Maintains compliance and privacy monitoring checklists/activities and assists the CLCO with updates as needed
- Supports the CLCO and the Legal & Compliance Specialists with research and drafting policy and procedure across the organization
- Prepares compliance related reports and presentations and other communications for review by the CLCO, including for the Quarterly Compliance Committee meetings
- Ensures that the organization maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consents, authorization forms and information notices and materials reflecting current organization and legal practice requirements under HIPAA and State laws
- Assists the CLCO with compliance audits and risk assessments and implementing change as indicated
- Partners with CLCO to identify and monitor critical risk areas, plans for mitigating risks, and supports implementation of new or enhanced controls to mitigate identified risks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (J.D., M.B.A. or other relevant graduate degree a plus)
- Two years of compliance, legal or health care-related experience
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), or as a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Medical Compliance Officer (CMCO), Patient Safety (CPPS) or similar healthcare-related compliance or patient safety-related certification preferred
- Knowledge of third-party payer reimbursement, coding and documentation requirements is preferred
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations is preferred
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Excellent PC skills and knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally, with all levels of management
- Must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative as well as problem-solving skills within a fast-paced, ever-changing, start-up environment
- Committed to being a true team player; excited to roll up sleeves, dig in, and get work done with colleagues in order to help the company grow and succeed
- Performs other duties as assigned
