The Technician is responsible for coordinating and performing the maintenance on the packing line equipment in the Hybrid Pre-grade, Hybrid Packing, and Cherry Packing & PPL Packing lines to ensure a high-quality product and maximize the return to the grower. This requires working closely with the Sizer Technician(s), Line Supervisors, QC Supervisors, and multiple departments within Allan Brothers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and/or performing the maintenance to keep the line functioning so the production team can do its part of the process.
- Knowledge of production’s needs for operating the equipment at peak efficiency.
- Help to create safety documents on equipment with supervisors & the compliance team members.
- Update or modify documents if equipment is modified or new equipment is installed.
- Work with other team members to cross train in their area as well as help them cross train in your area.
- Troubleshoot equipment or operational problems and either solve them or request additional help.
- Daily check in with line supervisors, sizer team and quality control department to make sure their areas are running efficiently. Report issues or needed repairs to supervisors.
- Daily line walks to repair items or let supervisors know so repairs can be completed or scheduled with production downtime if needed.
- Coordinate with production and repack to support the repacking of fruit.
- Perform required daily maintenance on apple and cherry equipment as needed.
- Coordinate with supervisor for repairs and assist with inventory, ordering and organization of parts.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and listen to equipment. This is position is very active and requires a lot of walking and climbing of stairs. Employee will be around equipment that is noisy at times.
Education and Capability Requirements:
- Fluent in English. Fluent in Spanish preferred.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
- Organizational skills, understanding of mechanics, basic electrical troubleshooting, get along with others.
- Identify areas that need mechanical, processes or updated equipment to help reduce line downtime.
