What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance/barn help position at Allerage Farm?
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, machinery, and buildings
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs
- Conduct regular maintenance tasks such as lubricating machinery, replacing parts, and cleaning equipment
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components, plumbing fixtures, and HVAC systems
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of work areas
- Operate heavy equipment as needed for maintenance tasks
- Assist with animal husbandry duties such as feeding, grooming, and cleaning animal enclosures
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and crops
- Assist with greenhouse operations including planting, watering, and monitoring plant growth
- Perform general gardening tasks such as weeding, pruning, and fertilizing plants
- Utilize hand tools and power tools to complete maintenance tasks
Requirements:
- Previous experience in equipment repair and maintenance preferred
- Knowledge of greenhouse operations and plant care techniques is a plus
- Familiarity with equine care and handling is beneficial
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks in various weather conditions
