The Role of the Area Leader presents an exciting opportunity to nurture talent and enhance the operational processes in their designated area.
Under the guidance of the Manufacturing Director, the Area leader will steer the Plastics Department at the Manitowoc Plant.
The Area Leader will oversee and drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring safety, quality, and production objectives are met within their sphere of influence. This position will strive for excellence by effectively managing and developing personnel, fostering employee engagement, and surpassing customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide unwavering support for safety programs and OSHA compliance to establish a secure work environment for all team members. Daily plant duties encompass enforcing the use of personal protective equipment by employees, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures, and facilitating comprehensive training and awareness programs.
Guarantee team members receive comprehensive training on the standard work procedures applicable to their roles, encompassing equipment operation, quality benchmarks, and interpersonal skills essential for their duties.
Deliver guidance, mentorship, and training to Group Leaders/Supervisors under their supervision.
Promote the continuous enhancement of the visual factory by actively supporting 5S Bright/Clean/Clear principles.
Support day-to-day operations to nurture strong relationships with team members, fulfill scheduled production requirements, uphold quality standards, and enhance operational efficiency.
Set annual objectives and goals that align with operational targets and budgets.
Ensure customer satisfaction by actively seeking customer feedback and implementing successful assembly procedures during new product launches.
Engage with the Union Steering Committee to foster labor harmony.
In order to drive continuous improvement, this role will proactively establish relationships with production, collaborating with the Environmental Health & Safety, Supply Chain, Logistics, Human Resources, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance departments.
Desired Qualifications
**Requisite Knowledge/Experience/Education:
**
A demonstrated track record of leadership with a servant leadership mindset.
A Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, or Engineering is mandatory.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a medium/high volume manufacturing environment.
Prior experience in managing Plastics Operations is preferred.
Proven proficiency in utilizing lean tools and concepts.
**Skills and Abilities:
**
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, adept problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, and demonstrated leadership acumen.
Comprehensive understanding of process control and production scheduling.
**Physical Requirements:

- Sustained periods of sitting, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending, and minimal lifting are expected for this role.
