Job Summary
Work under the direction of and assist the FIE Service Manager by providing clerical support to the service department.
Key Departmental Responsibilities
· Service department shipping and billing operations.
· Answer service department telephones; assisting customers at service counter; creating work orders.
· Establish and maintain customer accounts. Track pump cores out to customers.
· Keep track of backorders, ensure order and requisition fulfillment occurs in a timely manner; monitor job status and parts availability.
· Assign work based on technician availability to minimize lead times.
· Order and manage part inventory, identify/implement efficiency improvements with part ordering.
· Manage out-plant work orders.
· Support and assist department management in processing rebuilt units and related cores.
· Maintain general department filing operations; maintain work orders.
· Assist shop foreman.
· Operate in conformance with the requirements of the Diesel Forward quality management system.
· Assist other employees both in and out of the department.
· Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
· Assist service writer team with various administration front counter tasks.
· Provide feedback on system needs/changes.
Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in service writing preferred. Individual needs to be proficient in word processing and spreadsheet programs and have strong organizational skills. Initiative is highly regarded. Needs to be able to use independent judgment in completing activities and operate under general supervision.
