Allucent is a full-service contract research and development organization with international resources dedicated to helping pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies efficiently and expeditiously navigate the regulatory approval process in order to bring new drugs, biologics, and medical devices to the people who need them. The Director, Business Development is responsible for supporting new client acquisition, account management of selected accounts, and attainment of revenue targets for Clinical Pharmacology, Modeling and Simulation (CPMS) services. The Director executes activities related to clinical pharmacology business development in accordance with the standard operating procedures, regulatory guidelines, executed client contracts and the clients’ expectations. The Director is a member of the overall Allucent CPMS Business Development team and provides CPMS-specific sales support. The Director, Business Development reports to the Business Development Leader, Clinical Pharmacology Solutions.
Location: West Coast (remote)
- Implement the business strategy for CPMS business development
- Attain annual sales, profit, and operational targets for CPMS business development
- Work in concert with the Allucent business development team to achieve targets for CPMS business
- Follow appropriate operating procedures / business processes
- Actively participate in team meetings
- Maintain and develop organizational culture, values, and reputation
- Report to applicable stakeholders on business strategy planning, results, and performance for clinical pharmacology business development
- Provide guidance and insights of client needs, wishes and expectations to appropriate leadership, proposals, Legal teams to ensure winning proposal/bid strategies
- Support preparation of proposals
- Support contract negotiations and closing of sales
- Act as the organization's representative in its dealings with the outside world
- Actively contribute to staff learning & development within the company
- Provide training and technical expertise to the broader Allucent business development team in the areas of clinical pharmacology, modeling, and simulation
- Attend approved local and national marketing activities, conferences/expositions, customer meetings, and other functions that facilitate business development and attain sales goals
- Communicate with clinical, scientific, and regulatory staff to ensure effective and efficient flow of sponsor requirements regarding studies or programs and ensure accurate and timely communication with sponsors on their programs.
- Obtain sufficient technical knowledge to enable business development staff to accurately represent internal operations to sponsors
- Review, evaluate and approve clinical pharmacology business development processes and procedures within the Quality Management System
- Monitor and assure client satisfaction on existing CMPS-related projects with related activities
- Identify key accounts and maintain strong long-lasting relationships to win new and repeat business
- Maintain day-to-day sales administration activities in a detailed and timely manner in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system Salesforce
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and represent Allucent with high integrity, ethics, honesty, loyalty, and professionalism at all times
- Maintain high professional standards in the communication with clients to build and maintain a good Allucent reputation
- Plan and organize personal and team sales activities to achieve company-established sales goals.
- Draft and follow through until project related documents are executed. This includes CDAs, MSAs, proposals or RFPs, project quotes, contracts, and invoices
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences or business
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated, successful sales experience in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industries
- Good knowledge of GxP
- Understanding of GDPR/HIPAA and applicable (local) regulatory requirements
- Ability to identify client needs and new business opportunities
- Strong communication and networking capabilities
- Ability to translate guidelines, rules and regulations in clear and usable recommendations
- Broad knowledge of clinical pharmacology, modeling and simulation, and their roles in drug development
- Ability to simplify complex issues into understandable concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including good command of English language
- Ability to work in a fast-paced challenging environment of a growing company
