As An Engine Tester You Will Be Responsible For
- Support thermal, vibration and shock testing of rocket engine components
- Work with designers, systems engineers, and analysts to plan and perform development and qualification test campaigns of flight hardware and assemblies to meet an aggressive development schedule
- Plan and supervise thermal, vibration, shock and vacuum testing on development and flight hardware.
- Author and maintain detailed and repeatable test plans and procedures; define, procure, setup, and maintain test fixtures, and test support equipment
- Ensure component standardization across programs
- Conduct data reviews and prepare reports to ensure successful component qualification
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or other relevant field.
- 8 years of applicable experience in component development and testing
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Desire to work hands-on, as part of a team, in both development, test and production phases of a product lifecycle
- Hands-on experience with integrating test articles and sub-assemblies for test.
- Experience with failure investigations
- Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and fittings.
- Experience with data acquisition and automation systems (LABVIEW, NI TestStand, etc.).
- Successfully led simultaneous projects.
- Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis, processing and reduction techniques.
- Experience in developing, producing, and executing test procedures
- Strong technical fundamentals in fluids and thermodynamics
- Operational understanding of engines and engine sub-components, such as turbopumps, combustion devices, valves, and other fluid components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering standards, technical requirements, and engineering drawings
- Skills using Creo or other modeling and drafting software
- Knowledge of instrumentation including pressure transducers, thermocouples, silicon diodes, resistance temperature detectors, and accelerometers.
- Some knowledge of avionics components
- Strong work ethic with a high attention to detail and level of organization
- Experience related to cryogenic fluid systems and high pressure gaseous systems
- Experience with Environmental Testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal, etc.) per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540D or MIL-STD-810G.
- Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor.
