About the Role
As our first head of communications, you will develop and lead our corporate communications function, including media relations, award submissions, conferences, and internal communications.
Accelerate your Career as You:
- Build brand awareness and understanding of Alto with our target audience, through gaining media coverage and raising our visibility via key speaking opportunities, awards, and other tactics.
- Partner with key leaders to drive all corporate communications, including company announcements, executive communication, and responding to inbound media inquiries.
- Manages the development, implementation, and coordination of internal and external public relations strategies, with the goal of establishing and maintaining a favorable image of the company with investors, potential customers, employees and the public.
- Consults with marketing, sales, and HR in order to project the corporate message to both external and internal mediums.
- Interfaces with public relations agencies and acts as the corporate spokesperson to the media, analysts and the general public at large.
- Partner with HR and Legal teams to support any official internal communications to our team of over 1,000 spread across several offices and many states.
- Serve as the company’s spokesperson on select issues.
A Bit About You:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 years in public relations and/or corporate communications
- Range of experience from legal and regulatory issues, to brand-building initiatives
- World-class verbal and written communications skills, including high comfort level as a spokesperson
- 3 years managing direct reports in a way that’s consistent with Alto’s values
- Experience building strategic communications plans and then executing them, including media pitching
- Sufficient business-savvy to guide strategies and communications around complex financial, legal, and regulatory issues
- Experience guiding strategy and advising executives on complex and sensitive media relations and internal communications topics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience training and preparing executives for speaking engagements and interviews
- Personal relationships with key gatekeepers: reporters, editors, conference organizers
- Experience at a top-tier consumer brand, working on brand-building functions
Additional Physical Job Requirements:

- Sedentary work: Sitting most of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Salary Range: $160,000 - $215,000

Travel: Yes - Required up to 25% of the time
