M-F 7am-4p with consistent OTOverview
PURPOSE & SCOPE:
In smaller operations, the “yard person” position includes a greater scope of duties including such things as shipping/receiving, assembly of new equipment, inventory control and fleet identification. This is a good, entry-level position for team members to “learn” their way up. The Yard Person must establish an understanding of the objectives and accountabilities below.
Basic Duties
OBJECTIVES & ACCOUNTABILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Administrative:
- Interacts with rental counter personnel throughout the day to support changing demand for equipment, which happens almost hourly.
- Assists rental counter personnel in selection of “rental ready” equipment for each transaction.
- Makes final inspection of equipment before customer receives it, verifying inventory ID number, fuel level, and “rental ready” condition.
- Verifies fuel consumed and inspects all “details” of equipment when returned.
- Installs “service tags” on equipment returned from rental.
- Moves “rental ready” equipment back to proper storage areas following routine maintenance procedures by service shop.
Customer Relations:
- Greets customers in yard, helping direct them to office or unloading areas.
- Assists customers and delivery drivers in loading and unloading rental equipment.
- Gives customers start/stop and general operating instructions on rental equipment.
Technical:
- Will be involved in washing and/or performing light maintenance on rental equipment.
- Has good working knowledge of all rental equipment.
- Possesses sufficient mechanical skills to perform and/or recommend minor equipment repairs.
Qualifications
POSITION PROFILE:
- Needs to demonstrate high levels of "customer service" to everyone in the company. Daily activities can be varied and sometimes working under pressure trying to get orders ready to go out.
- This position calls for hard work and putting a “friendly face” toward the customer. The Yard Person’s daily activities will vary and many times will be working under pressure to meet customer and operational demands.
