Job Summary: Provides direct services to Opio (youth). Implements curriculum and provides Hawaiian cultures and values training to Opio and/or their families. May also work at other sites to service youth participants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Presents substance abuse/health curriculum(s) promoting wellness, and conducts cultural activities with youth and/or families.
- Collaborates with schools and/or community organizations.
- Maintains accurate records on each opio and evaluations of all activities conducted.
- Participants in workshops and conferences to promote activities and services of the project.
- Attends staff development training sessions to improve the quality of services of the project.
- May present curriculum(s) to youth at other sites.
Job Requirements
- AA Degree and two years experience working with youth or youth groups.
- Substitution: High school diploma and four years experience working with youth or youth groups.
- Valid Hawaii driver's license, current personal no-fault insurance and daily access to an automobile. Excellent driving record verified by a State of Hawaii abstract.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to various cultures and customs.
- Presentation/workshop skills related to hula, mele, oli and traditional values.
- Ability to connect and work effectively with youth and their families.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Extensive knowledge of Native Hawaiian culture, performing arts, and values.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.59 - $20.80 per hour
