The Communications Specialist provides expert support to our internal customers through consultation, content creation and review, and distribution of communications to HR and employee audiences. Using detailed consultation, the Specialist earns trust as a communications subject matter expert and generates communications plans and overall strategy for large-scale tech launches and changes. They are customer obsessed and look for ways to help our internal customers effectively communicate with their audience to maximize adoption of their change or launch. They insist on the highest standards, providing copywriting and editing services to the larger project teams while maintaining Amazon and Amazonian Experience and Technology (AET) style, voice and brand standards.
The Communications Specialist delivers results by providing support to project teams in all aspects of the communications process, including comms strategy, audience and distribution list identification, review process ownership, and delivering communications to the smallest necessary audience at the appropriate times/intervals to maximize visibility. They work backwards from the customer to ensure that the most effective channels are utilized and all messaging clearly highlights the value and benefit of the change or launch to the audience. They think big by proactively identifying learning, content, and future communications needs early in the project. They invent and simplify, developing suggestions or improvements to maximize the value of our team’s resources, build writing and communications skillsets within AET, and seek new ways to track and measure our work.

Key job responsibilities
- Build relationships with AET project teams and provide counsel to stakeholder
- Draft and execute communication plans and strategies for large-scale internal tech changes and launches
- Apply existing communication channels and utilize them to embed messaging within the flow of work and meet customers at their point of need
- Use communication best practices to generate excitement and maximize adoption for the project teams by increasing effectiveness of the comms to the smallest audience necessary
- Support project teams in all aspects of the communications process, including overall strategy, audience and distribution list identification and creation, approval process, and delivery
- Track communications work and use team measurement tools
- Internal communications experience, preferably at a multi-national company
- Experience in communicating the launch of new tech products
- Outstanding attention to detail and change management experience
- Pivots quickly and is able to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require timely response or turnaround
- An entrepreneurial spirit, including ability to work independently and autonomously
- Proven ability to earn trust with leaders and peers to drive strategy decisions
- The ability to efficiently solve problems and challenges
