We are seeking a passionate, talented, and inventive individual to join the Applied AI Finance team supporting an organization that builds industry-leading technologies that customers love. The mission of the Applied AI team is to enable organizations within Worldwide Amazon.com Stores to accelerate the adoption of Generative AI technologies across various parts of our business.
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to support the Applied AI team. The Finance Manager will support the team with quantifying the opportunity of applying Generative AI solutions using financial analysis & modelling, create mechanisms to track benefits from AI initiatives, and support Applied AI through senior leadership reviews. The Applied AI Finance Manager will be a key financial partner in driving analytical and reporting support for senior leadership up to the Worldwide Stores CEO & CFO and will partner with central finance teams like IPAT to influence and standardize reporting.
You will be expected to have an established background in financial analysis and working with senior leaders at the Director level and above. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex problems, is customer-centric, is excited by new technologies like Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) and motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Providing business partnership to the Applied AI Product and Technology teams.
- Coordinating and collaborating with cross functional teams across Worldwide Amazon Stores Finance and IPAT to track variable cost initiatives.
- Supporting leadership reviews (MBRs, QBRs, OP1/2, etc.).
- Financial reporting using systems like COGNOS, Brady, Lantern, etc.
- Support ad-hoc Financial Analysis and Modelling.
- Assisting in month end close, controllership, and annual/quarterly planning activities.
A day in the life
We're looking for a Finance Manager who is comfortable querying data from Amazon's financial systems, has strong financial modelling skills, is experienced in tracking technology enabled cost reduction initiatives, and is comfortable working cross-functionally with finance and business leaders across Worldwide Amazon Stores. The ideal candidate will work well with ambiguity and can determine the right amount of data needed to drive decision-making.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5 years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3 years of finance experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- 6 years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6 years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
