What are the responsibilities and job description for the Division Manager position at AMCC?
The Division Manager is responsible for overseeing project operations and promoting the development of new business primarily in the marine construction industry. The ideal candidate will function as the principal interface with Contracting Officers and Representatives, JV partners, as well as senior management and officials on existing and proposed future contracts, initiatives, and opportunities. Administer $30-$50M annual marine construction program.
They will be responsible for customer satisfaction in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency to meet or exceed the standards of the contracts. They will also provide subject matter expertise in the functional area described above and participate as a corporate interface for identification and development of new business by providing capture activities and direct proposal support. This position will also serve as a liaison with our JV partners primarily relating to marine construction – locks, dams, dredging, marina redevelopment, beach nourishment, etc.
- Ensures the overall strategic direction, leadership, and management is carried out for existing contracts.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and applicable federal and state labor laws through the use of personnel, processes, and procedures.
- Initiates, directs, and monitors the performance of contracts and staff and their departments to ensure customer facilities are operated and maintained safely, cost effectively, efficiently, and in optimum condition.
- Provides subject matter expertise in the development of the concept of operations to include project organization and staffing.
- Assists in the development of the Basis of Estimate (BOE) for staffing, equipment, and material pricing.
- Identify and evaluate new opportunities, customers, and teaming partners; maintain effective relationships with existing and new customers and teaming partners
- Ensures that contract requirements and deliverables have been executed at a level that meets or exceeds the stated standards.
- Instills a culture of rigorous compliance with quality, safety, and environmental requirements through well documented and communicated programs that are integrated into each work plan.
- Communicates performance objectives, including contract requirements, productivity improvements, customer goals, and applicable standards, codes and regulations to the project staff.
- Communicates with corporate and business development personnel to provide reports and updates as required or requested. Requests corporate liaison and resources as required to strengthen and enhance performance.
- Participates in the preparation of information, marketing material and proposals for new work, including, but not limited to, SME writing assignments, additions, deletions, and contract modifications.
- Resolves problems and or conflicts and maintains regular and open communication with corporate management and customers.
- Assimilates management information and contract reports detailing overall activities.
- Ensures corporate compliance with all company policies and procedures, adhering to company standards for management development, training, safety, security, quality control, environmental compliance, and industrial relations.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
5-10 Staff; including: Project Managers, Construction, and administrative employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Finance, Geology, or Engineering or other related field
- Experience may be substituted for education on a 2:1 basis
- Ten (10) years of previous construction management experience
- Five (5) or more years of management/supervision experience
- Five (5) or more years of managing experience of project/programs that value at or above $2M
- Proven knowledge of industry wide generally accepted standards and regulations, such as OSHA, EPA, and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
- Experience working with multiple contractors and management of subcontractors in various locations throughout the United States.
- Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively use common Microsoft products such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to travel multiple days per month
- Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other related field
- Experience in marine construction and estimating
- Professional Engineering (PE) degree, MBA, or over 15 years in management/supervision in construction
- Experience in Federal Government projects
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
