America On Tech is an award-winning, early pipeline technology talent accelerator on a mission to decrease the racial wealth gap by creating pathways for underestimated students to thrive in technology and innovation. To date, we have worked with 3,500 students by leveraging the time, talent and expertise of technology professionals to teach our tuition-free courses and help provide work-based internships and learning programs to promote the advancement of underestimated students into technology. Who We Are Looking For:
We are currently looking for an Internship and Jobs Placement Manager who will work to help our students and alumni, 16-24 years of age, obtain paid technology internships and full time jobs. The ideal Internship and Jobs Placement Manager is adept at building relationships with key stakeholders, including current and potential corporate partners, and skilled at elucidating the value our students bring to technology teams.
Your day-to-day work will include working directly with our alumni and families, corporate partners, AOT Alumni and NYC Programs teams to ensure the successful placement of AOT Tech Flex Leaders graduates and alumni into technology internships and jobs according to program metrics and OKRs outlined in our strategic plan. This is a great opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic professional looking to help shape the vision of a promising non-profit and who is inspired by the potential of students to excel in technology. Successful candidates for this role are solutions-oriented, data loving, entrepreneurial and passionate about connecting companies to top tech talent. The ideal candidate is able to balance systems and big-picture thinking with the operationalization of tasks and an eye for detail.
The Internship and Jobs Placement Manager will report to the Director of Alumni Programs.
Responsibilities:
Partnerships Management and Internship Coordination (60% of time):
- Develop marketing and communication materials to tell the story of our alumni and how they will add value to a company’s technology team
- Develop and implement outreach and communication strategy to current and prospective partners to recruit as hiring and placement partners
- Liaise with AOT’s Development Team to maintain and create new partnerships through job and internship placement efforts
- Work collaboratively with NY Program Director and NY Program Team to coordinate the placement of high school program graduates into summer internships, in partnership with the Department of Youth and Community Development’s Ladders for Leaders Program
- Work collaboratively with the Alumni Fellowships Program Manager to ensure fellows are placed in internships after the completion of programs
- Solidify hiring partnerships and pipelines for AOT alumni
Alumni Communication and Support (20% of time):
- Connect regularly with AOT alumni and key stakeholders to keep up-to-date log of internship and job seekers
- Plan and lead professional development sessions for AOT alumni to prepare them to succeed in the workplace
- Coordinate all administrative functions of internship programs and employer partnerships throughout the year
- Act as the liaison between AOT and the internship or job site, providing support to our students, corporate and community partners
Data Collection & Evaluation (20% of time):
- Work with Director of Alumni Programs and Data Manager to build a robust system to collect, track, and monitor internship and job placements that allows for data-based decision making
- Support the evaluation of policies and practices to ensure program goals are achieved
- Compile regular reports on placement outcomes for both internal and external dissemination
General
- As part of a growing organization, contribute toward the development of standard operating procedures in all areas of business, and continue to find new ways to improve quality and efficiency
- Perform related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice and to support the growth of AOT
Qualifications:
- You have a relevant Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent professional experience
- You have experience in job placement or recruitment
- You have experience or knowledge of the tech industry, computer science, or adjacent fields
- You have a demonstrated history of building and maintaining corporate relationships
- You have superior interpersonal, customer service and community relationship-building abilities
- You are the person that your colleagues naturally gravitate to when they are trying to figure something out
- You are an excellent, engaging communicator - both in oral and written presentation
- You are excited to collaborate with others and work effectively in a multicultural team
- You have experience working in a remote environment, and use of requisite tools (i.e. video conferencing, messaging, etc.)
- You are proficient in Google Suite (especially Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets and Google Classroom)
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience working with college-aged students and young professionals
- Superior interpersonal, customer service and community relationship-building abilities
- Experience using Salesforce and/or other CRM tools
- Experience using Mailchimp and/or other email marketing services
- Experience using FormAssembly
