What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-K 4 Teacher position at American Child?
American Child is looking for teacher for their Pre-K 4 class, preferably with their CDA (or other degree) and experience to join our staff of childcare professionals. This job is full-time, but can be made a part-time job for the right candidate.
Our staff is made of loving and dedicated teachers who understand each child's needs. They are highly qualified childhood educators who are able to use their creativity and curriculum guidelines as the basis for unique lesson plans that are brought to life in a fun and imaginative way.
We have a strong emphasis on Early Childhood Education and want someone to join our team who also holds Early Childhood Education in high regard.
We follow the ABEKA program throughout the school for their phonics and reading preparation. We adhere to the phonics part of the curriculum very closely in our Pre-K and have great success in getting young children reading before kindergarten or at least having the skills to soon be reading. We also us the Big Day for Pre-K curriculum to bring in more math and thematic learning. We have found that this combinations helps our students do well on the Caddo Parish Magnet test and do well once they get to kindergarten.
Responsibilities of teachers at American Child are as follows:
Meet the individual needs of the children.
Keep children safe, happy and clean at all times.
Develop and carry out lesson plans.
Participate in staff and training meetings.
Design an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom.
Interact with the children to support play, exploration, and learning.
Present expectations that are appropriate to the children's age and developmental level.
Plan and implement activities that develop self-esteem and social skills.
Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff.
Build teamwork.
Demonstrate knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices (will receive training)
Use Teaching Strategies Gold (will receive training)
Be observed by state representatives using the CLASS tool (will receive training)
Be committed to continuing education.
Benefits include 8 paid holidays and 1 week paid vacation after 1 year of service. Pay is dependent upon education and experience.
