Human Resources Assistant (LPP)

Overview

Long Prairie Packing, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has an opportunity for a Human Resources Assistant at our Long Prairie, MN plant.

As a Human Resources Assistant, you will:

• Audit, file, and purge I-9 forms.
• Scan employee documents into their electronic folders and file accordingly.
• Edit employees’ personal information when needed (parking permit tags, phone numbers, addresses, etc.).
• Carry out daily employee relations, such as assisting employees with general questions (payroll, benefits, policies, etc.) and translating as needed.
• Complete state and federal processes (E-Verify, unemployment insurance, MN New Hire Reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
• Coordinate activities with corresponding management to promote employee relations.
• Initiate, track, and verify FMLA, leaves of absence, and attendance via UKG.
• Monitor and update company housing changes.
• Process and send employment, eviction, and termination letters.
• Assist supervisors when writing and issuing coaching forms and disciplinary actions.
• Handle confrontation and challenging conversations with employees in a calm and respectful manner.
• Maintain total confidentiality to prevent the disclosure of sensitive information to unsolicited parties.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship. 
• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of office experience.

• Bilingual in English, Spanish, and/or Haitian Creole.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of UKG and iCIMS or other similar HRIS/ATS.
• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• At least one year’s experience in an HR setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of current federal/state employment laws and regulations, Labor and Employee Relations, and benefits.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Great communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Able to take the initiative to perform duties with minimal direction.
