About the Opportunity:
The Vice President of Finance & Accounting is responsible for, and the head of, the overall financial functions of American Queen Voyages.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the organization's financial goals and strategies, working with COO and shared services CFO
- Develop and monitor policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced operating costs, and increased revenues
- Supervise cash management activities
- Act as financial gatekeeper
- Supervise the preparation of the annual budget for all divisions
- Prepare monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports/analysis
- Improve profitability within the business unit
- Review prior financial results and discuss anticipated changes to highlight future needs and trends
- Ensure underlying accounting records are accurate, complete and in accordance with GAAP
- Review monthly operating reports for accuracy, completeness and major variances between actual and budget results
- Approve monthly bank reconciliations
- Supervise all applicable audits and maintain relationships with external vendors for such purposes
- Participate with Human Resources in hiring and training of new Finance and Accounting staff as applicable
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- MBA Preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be fluent in English
- Experience in strategic planning and execution
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures
- Knowledge of public relations principles, practices and techniques
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations
- Ability to identify and secure revenue sources
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
- Work requires willingness to travel and to work a flexible schedule
Experience:
- At least ten years of experience in a similar role
- Travel/tourism, hospitality and/or cruise industry experience preferred
Other:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests including but not limited to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion and post-accident/incident testing
