Volunteer Members of the Disaster Health Team offer care and compassion to people when they need it the most! Whether it is traveling to a large scale disaster like a hurricane or wildfire or staying close to home to help individuals/families who have experienced events like a home fire, your help is needed! Some work can be done remotely.

Responsibilities:
- Provide disaster mental health intervention to clients impacted by a disaster
- Participate in relevant meetings and activities as a member of the Disaster Health or Mental Health Team
- Participate in preparedness efforts
- Help facilitate long-term recovery for clients impacted by disaster
- Assist in developing partnership with local mental health agencies
- Support other disaster responders before, during and after disaster response

Qualifications:
- Currently licensed health/mental health professional (with at least a master’s degree): license from any US state or territory as a nurse, social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist or psychiatrist.
- Currently licensed from any US state or territory as a school psychologist or school counselor (with at least a master’s degree)
- Current psychiatric nurse with a state license as a registered nurse and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a psychiatric setting
Training is provided at no cost. The time commitment for this position varies based on the number and type of disasters happening locally and nationally. You can choose whether you stay in your local community or if you choose to travel to help at larger events.
