Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Governance Coordinator. The Governance Coordinator supports the CEO and Deputy Executive Vice President in the governance of the organization, particularly as related to ASSH Council members, Committee members, and other Hand Society volunteers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, time management and responsiveness, organization, and high attention to detail. This position reports to the Deputy Executive Vice President and the Chief Executive Officer and requires the ability to work autonomously as this role is not part of a defined team.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the governance calendar and ensure that all processes start and end on time
- Provide administrative support to the CEO and Deputy EVP. These duties will include basic administrative tasks including but not limited to coordinating schedules, organizing expense reports, assisting with committee meetings and support, organizing historical records, etc.
- Council Applications – Manage applications for open Council positions, and support the Nominations Committee in the process of selecting nominees for Council positions
- Committee Applications – Manage committee applications and term renewal requests, and support the Committee Advisory Group (CAG) in determining the committee structure year to year
- Young Leaders Program – Manage applications, and support the selection committee in determining each year’s class of Young Leaders
- Annual Meeting VIP Events – Work with the President to determine the President’s Dinner and Council Reception guest lists, design and send invitations, collect RSVPs and dietary restrictions for the venues, communicate details to attendees, and work with the ASSH Meetings Team on related tasks
- Support the Meetings Team in Annual Meeting tasks as needed
- Council and Executive Committee Meetings – Prepare compiled agenda materials for distribution, communicate meeting details to participants, take meeting minutes, collect and configure attendee expenses for reimbursement, and send post-meeting evaluations and gather responses
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with Microsoft and Salesforce software preferred
- Nonprofit experience preferred
