What are the responsibilities and job description for the AVP/Credit Analyst III position at AmeriServ Financial Inc.?

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:

 

Administer assistance to lending officers of the bank by furnishing credit analysis and financial information evaluation services.  Promote compliance with established credit policies and procedures.  Functions at a wholly-independent level and assists Supervisor of Credit Analysis Department in training and coaching of less experienced Credit Analysts.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1. In support of the Lending Division, prepare accurate, comprehensive and timely credit analysis as required by policy to support loan production efforts of the Lending Division with appropriate balance of credit risk management and compliance with credit policies.  Evaluate financial statements and various credit data to determine and document the degree of risk in lending funds. Complete ratio, trend and cash flow analysis.  Carefully analyze all data to produce meaningful, clear and objective reports. 

 

2. Ensure that credit files are complete, identify any documentation deficiencies, and work with relationship manager to anticipate, identify and collect documents as needed for timely approvals on new and existing credits. Thoroughly research borrowers, guarantors and industry data, with focus on addressing any potential credit worthiness concerns.

 

3. Contribute to and participate in maintaining a consistent credit culture throughout the organization by promoting compliance with all credit policies and procedures, by providing support to the Lending Division in interpretation of policy and aiding the loan officers in evaluating appropriate loan structure relating to loan proposals and/or proposed loan modifications.

 

4. Serve as an internal training resource by assisting the department supervisor to provide direction, training, guidance and coaching to less experienced analysts, specifically with review of analysis, reports and/or projects completed by junior analysts to ensure accuracy. 

 

5. Provide spreadsheet preparation services as requested by the Lending Division and provide credit analyses of existing lending exposures in the portfolio, with a goal of assuring annual analysis, in the minimum, of the largest 25 credit exposures of the Bank. Provide ongoing monitoring of financial covenants, including calculations, monitoring updates and communication of compliance status. Complete review of real estate appraisals and evaluations accurately and on time as assigned. 

 

6. Adhere to project deadlines and maintain a good working knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies and procedures and identify exceptions to policy. Provide technical advice to relationship managers as needed. 

 

7. Continually keep abreast of related legal, banking, industry, compliance and market risk related issues. 

 

 

 

8. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

The employee is frequently required to: 1) Type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) Talk expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers or clients accurately, loudly, or quickly; 3) Hearing – perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with/without correction.  Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make the discriminations in sound.  Operating a motor vehicle and the ability to adapt to environmental weather conditions, as seasons change.

 

Sedentary work may require occasionally lifting of up to 25 pounds and/or move up to 30 pounds.  This work involves sitting most of the time with walking, driving and sitting.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: 1) viewing a computer monitor; 2) extensive reading; 3) driving.

No travel is required, except for possible (training and seminars)

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field with completion of accounting coursework through at least the intermediate level. Minimum of five (5) years of commercial banking experience in the credit analysis department of the bank or equivalent. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, eight (8) years of commercial banking experience in the credit analysis department of a bank. Demonstrate working knowledge of the bank’s credit policy.
