This is a position within the Legal Department that is held by a lawyer with strong legal skills and the ability to deliver business-oriented, effective and efficient legal services, project management, and strategic counseling on significant projects or matters for defined business or corporate clients for which he or she has overall responsibility (e.g., a discrete group within one of AmerisourceBergen’s business units or corporate functions) or in a particular specialty practice area (e.g., litigation, mergers and acquisitions, securities law, privacy law, health law, technology law, or employment and labor law). Serve as in-house counsel supporting US biopharma consulting services, specifically in market access, health economics and outcomes policy, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory affairs Draft, review, and negotiate key essential terms in a variety of commercial agreements as may be required to protect our preferred position and ensure continued compliance in areas covered by the US healthcare regulatory framework Support AB’s Biopharma Services’ business strategy in development and implementation of new consulting services as well as support the integration of solutions acquired by AB Participate as a subject matter expert in commercial and regulatory evaluation of potential US-based acquisitions Counsel business and other internal partners on significant legal, regulatory and policy developments related to pharmaceutical regulatory guidance Collaborate across businesses and functions to manage enterprise risk Advance a positive spirit of partnership, creativity, and collaboration with internal clients and legal colleagues across multiple functions including Compliance, Finance, Privacy, Marketing, and others What your background should look like The lawyer in this role is expected to have a minimum of 9 years of transactions experience, ideally with a mix of national law firm experience and prior in-house life sciences experience strongly preferred; exceptional candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered Expertise advising, drafting and negotiating agreements, including significant experience with transactions in the life sciences industry required Requires experience advising clients on both business and legal issues Law Degree - must be a graduate of an accredited law school and admitted into the state bar Experience analyzing complex healthcare regulatory issues, including the Food, Drug, & Cosmetic Act and related rules and regulations, the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and related exceptions and safe harbors, privacy, and anti-trust issues A high level of intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility and flexibility, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability in supporting cross-functional teams to execute complex transactions Be resourceful, flexible and willing to engage in a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities Strong negotiation skills Strong oral and written communication skills required, including experience in a virtual environment Team-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively and build trusted relationships across a global matrixed team Strong organizational skills Attention to detail Sound drafting skills #LI-FS1 What AmerisourceBergen offers We offer a competitive total rewards package which includes benefits and compensation.
